33 Seconds
POSTER DESIGN | SCHOOL PROJECT
33 Seconds is a school project where we turn a 33-second video into a poster that uses folds to emphasise its design. We could interpret the video however we wanted; you could utilise all the visual elements in the video and create an infographic based off them, you could create a time line, or you could choose to focus solely on audio, which I did.
I chose to video a busy street right outside my house on a wet night, this produced a myriad of different sounds - tires against the wet street, wind howling in the distance and cars zooming by. I was using my headphones while watching the playback, and was really drawn to how certain sounds were louder in my left ear while certain sounds are louder in the right.
I started my poster by creating two axises - the horizontal being left ear to right ear, and the vertical being time. I then transcripted the sounds I heard into letters, with the howling wind being a 'swoosh' and cars zooming past being a 'brrrng'. I then used different weights to emphasise the volume of the sounds. Lastly, I folded the paper to ensure that the first thing you see is the axis, so that you'll understand what you're supposed to be looking at when you open up the poster.
